| Purchased in 1970 by John V. and Cecilia I. Morris from the late
David L. Davies, Funeral Director, this location has served as
the family’s branch facility for almost four decades. It
was originally owned by the partner of the late Percy A. Brown,
a well-known downtown merchant as a private residence. In
the 1950s, David L. Davies moved his funeral establishment here
from the former East Market Street, now on the site of the Heights-Murray
Elementary School. In the late 1970s, Charles J. Leagus,
a well-established Lithuanian funeral director on East South
Street, asked the Morris family for their assistance and inquired
if he could operate his funeral business from this facility due
to his advanced age. They welcomed the Leagus family and
were proud to perpetuate his name upon his death, as requested
by his late wife.
The Morris family has continually upgraded their facilities
over the years in both aesthetics and functionality. They
have initiated many renovations to make their facility
as warm and home-like as possible, while still catering
to the needs of all our citizens, able-bodied and disabled
alike. We likewise welcome you to call and arrange
an appointment to inspect our funeral home. We
trust you will feel a sense of genuine family care and
concern for your needs in an atmosphere of modern elegance. |
