Mr. William J. "Bill" Snyder, 60 a resident of High Street, Wilkes-Barre, passed into Eternal Life Friday evening in the HCR Manor Care Hampton House Campus, Hanover Township, following an illness.
Born October 22, 1947 in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of Doris H. (Mulvey) Snyder of Wilkes-Barre and the late Joseph P. Snyder.
Educated in the city schools, he was a member of the 1965 graduating class of G.A.R. Memorial High School.
A veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, Bill served with the United States Army with a grade of E-5.
Until illness caused his early retirement, Bill had been employed as a toll collector for the Wilkes-Barre City Parking Authority. Previously, he had been employed by the Valley Crest Nursing Home, Plains Township, the Lord and Taylor Distribution Center, Wilkes-Barre Township, and the Nardone Brothers Baking Company of Wilkes-Barre.
Bill attended Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre, and held membership in the Disabled American Veterans Wyoming Valley Chapter #9.
Enjoying the outdoors, Bill is remembered by family and friends as being an avid walker.
Besides his father Joseph, he was pre-deceased by sisters Kathryn (Kathy) Kodish and Janet Bryden.
Surviving in addition to his mother Doris are siblings Joseph and his wife Donna Snyder of Ashley; Joanne Monahan and her husband Thomas of Sugar Notch; Thomas and his wife Barbara of Wilkes-Barre, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Bill will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning from the John V. Morris - Charles J. Leagus Funeral Home, 281 East Northampton Street, Wilkes-Barre Heights.
Interment will be in Mount Greenwood Cemetery, Trucksville section of Kingston Township.
Relatives and friends may join his family for visitation Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 at the funeral home.

| Mrs. Irene Naylus Young of the Lee Park Section of Hanover Twp. died Saturday at the Birchwood Nursing Home, Nanticoke.
She was born in Lee Park, daughter of the late Frank and Frances Volovich Naylus and graduated from Hanover High School in 1947. Irene lived and worked in both Philadelphia, PA and Buffalo, NY for several years, before coming back to Lee PaRK. She had lived with Ron and Joyce Whitley, niece and caretakers who were always there for her. Also appreciation for their children Lynn Bilder and Ronda Smith who gave their attention and support, and a special thanks to neighbors Dave and Megan Globek. Besides her parents she was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law Norma and Herbert Evans.
There will be no calling hours.
Committal Services will be held at the Oaklawn Cemetery Chapel on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.

 Mrs. Marguerite C. “Margaret” (Fitz) Powell, 76 of West Hollenback Avenue in the North End section of Wilkes-Barre, passed into Eternal Life Tuesday morning in the Inpatient Unit of Hospice of the Visiting Nurses Association at Heritage House.
Born in Plains Township, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Stella (Janeski) Fitz. Educated in the city schools, she was a member of the 1950 graduating class of the James M. Coughlin High School. Mrs. Powell, prior to her illness, attended Saint Stanislaus Kostka Roman Catholic Church, North Main Street, North Wilkes-Barre. Until her retirement, she had been employed by the Carter Footwear Company of Wilkes-Barre. Previously, she had been employed by the Eastern Sportswear and Prestige Shoe Company, both formerly of North Wilkes-Barre. In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband, Mr. Donald Powell Jr.
Surviving are her son, Mr. Donald J. Powell at home; her brother Mr. Michael J. Fitz, Parsons section of the city, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Powell will be conducted on Thursday at noon from the John V. Morris Funeral Home, 625 North Main Street, North Wilkes-Barre with clergy from the Catholic Community of North Wilkes-Barre officiaitng.
Interment will be in Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery, South Main Street, Hanover Township.
Friends may call Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.

 Mr. Edward J. Pawlak Sr. “Buddy”, 74, of Hanover Twp., and a former resident of Grove Street, Edwardsville died August 6, 2008 at Hospice Community Care, Geisinger S. Wilkes-Barre in Wilkes-Barre surrounded by his loving family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Pawlak was born in Plymouth, July 15, 1934, son of the late Edward A. and Gertrude M. Brozena Pawlak. He was a graduate of Hanover High School and the University of Scranton, with a BS Degree in Economics. He also served with the US Army for three years in Massachusetts. After his discharge from the Army, he taught in New Jersey for several years. Upon returning to Wyoming Valley, Mr. Pawlak owned and operated the Master Market in Plymouth and the VIP Coffee Shop in Wilkes-Barre. Until his retirement, he had been employed by Luzerne County Tax Claims Bureau.
Mr. Pawlak was a member of St. John the Baptist RC Church, Nesbitt Street, Larksville. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his loving wife of forty five years, the former Jeanette M. Joseph, who died June 13, 2001, to whom he was deeply devoted and his second wife Aileen McSweeney Pawlak, who died in 2005.
Surviving is a son Edward J. Jr and his wife Paula of Indialantic, Florida; daughters, Jeanette M. and her husband Edward Miller, Joppa, Maryland, Marcella and her husband James Lendacky, Wilkes-Barre, Eileen and her husband Douglas Goddin, Richmond, Virginia, Mary and her husband Michael Belawicz, Hanover Twp., who resided with Mr. Pawlak. A very special part of his life were his six grandchildren who are Jaymelyn Lendacky, Emily and Michael Goddin, Thomas Belawicz, Eva and Edward J Pawlak lll.
Funeral services for Mr. Pawlak will be held on Saturday at 9:15 AM from the John V. Morris Funeral Home, 625 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. John the Baptist RC Church, Nesbitt Street, Larksville with Rev. Gerald J. Gurka, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in St. Mary of the Nativity RC Cemetery, Plymouth Twp.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7 PM.

 Mr. Myron J. Soroka, 61 a lifelong resident of North Wilkes-Barre, passed into Eternal Life Friday afternoon in the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains Township following an illness.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Michael and Catherine (Saukulyak) Soroka. Educated in the city schools, he attended the James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre. Following his education, he entered the U.S. Marine Corps, and proudly served for four years during the Viet Nam Conflict, earning the rank of Corporal upon his discharge. Until his retirement, he was employed as a furniture mover and truck driver for local trucking companies including Matheson Transfer of Forty-Fort. Prior to that, he worked at the Matthew Henry Garage in the Parsons section of the city. In addition to his parents, he was recently pre-deceased by his brother Michael on November 23, 2007.
Surviving are brothers Reverend Mr. Basil Soroka and his wife Chris of Swoyersville; Jerome and his wife Judy of Forty-Fort; and David of Duryea. Sisters Mary Ann of Lopez and Catherine E. of Plains; Three aunts; two uncles; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the famiy from the John V. Morris Funeral Homes of Wilkes-Barre.
Relatives and friends are invited to join Myron's family for committal services with military honors, which will be held Saturday, August 2nd at 10:00 a.m. in the parish cemetery, Lake Street, Dallas with the Very Reverend James G. Hayer, pastor and the Reverend Deacon Basil Soroka, permanent deacon of Holy Assumption of Saint Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, and Myron's brother officiating.

 Mr. Leonard C. Martin, 84 of Andover Street Wilkes-Barre, passed into Eternal Life Sunday afternoon in Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre Hospital following an illness.
Born in Wilkes-Barre he was the son of the late Charles and Stella (Miscavage) Martincavage. Educated in the Wilkes-Barre schools, Mr. Martin was a member of the 1941 graduating class of the James M. Coughlin High School. Upon graduation he served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during the Second World War in Belgium. After his military service, he completed classes to work in masonry and was self employed as a mason for several years. He later worked with the General Motors Corporation in Linden, NJ. Upon his return to the Wyoming Valley, Mr. Martin served on the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department as an officer attaining twenty-five years of service upon his retirement.
Enjoying the outdoors, he was an avid fisherman and hunter. He is remembered by family and friends as a loving husband, father and grandfather who always placed the needs of his family first. Mr. Martin was a member of Saint Boniface Roman Catholic Church, Blackman Street, Wilkes-Barre, and held membership in the Fraternal Order of Police Wyoming Valley Lodge #36, where he served as a former steward. He was pre-deceased by his wife, the former Eleanor J. Lutinski on January 15, 2001 and by a granddaughter, Lauren Martin.
Surviving are his son Leonard C. Martin and his wife Terry of Kingston; his daughter Patricia Brojakowski-McDermott and her husband Richard W. of Wilkes-Barre; A sister, Mrs. Dorothy Wint of Edwardsville; Grandchildren Tracy Brojakowski, Thomas M. Brojakowski and Robyn Jones; Two great-grandchildren Eden and Braden Brojakowski.
Funeral services for Mr. Martin will be conducted on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. from the John V. Morris - Charles J. Leagus Funeral Home, 281 East Northampton Street, Wilkes-Barre Heights followed by a funeral mass at 9:30 a.m. in Saint Boniface Roman Catholic Church with the Reverend James E.  Mr. Roger J. O'Donnell Sr., 68 a resident of Clarks Summit, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed into Eternal Life Friday evening in the Mercy Hospital Scranton following an illness.
Born December 22, 1939 in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Edmund (Ted) and Helen (Martin) O'Donnell. Educated in the Wilkes-Barre schools, he was a 1957 graduate of the former Saint Mary's High School, Wilkes-Barre. He was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Roman Catholic Church, Clarks Summit. Mr. O'Donnell was employed as an assistant seafood manager for Wegman's in Dickson City.
He and his wife, the former Jeam M. Haberski, celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary on July 15, 2007. Roger is remembered by family and friends as a loving husband to his wife Jean and devoted father to their son Roger Jr. He enjoyed spending time cross-country skiing and mountain biking with his son, and relished local travel and day trips with his family.
He is survived by his wife Jean and son Roger Jr., both at home; Brothers, Joseph of Olney, MD; Justin of Harvey’s Lake; Gerard, Bear Creek Township; and Edmund of Manchester, CT. Sisters; Mary Lou Cullen of Shavertown, Kingston Township and Ann Fretty of Wilkes-Barre.; Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. from the John V. Morris Funeral Home, 625 North Main Street, North Wilkes-Barre followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Saviour Roman Catholic Church, 54 Hillard Street, East End of Wilkes-Barre with the Reverend James R. | Rylee Lynn Burkhardt, twin infant daughter of Brian and Brenda (Skoronski) Burkhardt of Dallas, passed into Eternal Life Thursday morning in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown.
She was born May 4, 2008 in Allentown. Rylee is the sister of her twin, Skylar Ann. She is the granddaughter of Linda and Richard Burkhardt of Dallas and Connie Skoronski of Wilkes-Barre.
She is also survived by aunts and uncles including Kevin and Tracy Burkhardt, Jeffrey Burkhardt, Jimmy and Cathy Payne, Frank and Janet Wright, Andy and Danielle Stoshak. Her loving cousins include Aiden and Lucien Burkhardt, Faith and Tiffany Stoshak, Michael and David Wright.
Rylee's family would like to thank the countless numbers of people who have prayed for them, offered their love and support during these last two months.

Mrs. Janice Judith O'Hara, 55 of Forrest Street, Wilkes-Barre, was called home by our Lord on Wednesday evening.
Born Janice Judith Courtney, she was the daughter of the late William and Anna (Babchack) Courtney, who preceded her in death. Janice loved the arts. She graduated from the James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre and went on to Luzerne County Community College, Nanticoke where she received an associate's degree in art, photography, and childhood education.
While at LCCC, two of her photographs, Pocono Sunset and Early Morning Sea Gull, were published in the International Library of Photography. Janice also loved music and played the piano. She later attended King's College, Wilkes-Barre and graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology. Janice furthered her education by receiving a certificate of specialization from College Misericordia in drug and alcohol abuse and served as a counselor.
Janice had a very strong faith and was a member of Saint Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Wilkes-Barre. Until the time she fell ill, there was rarely a Sunday that she was not in church. She was a Sunday school teacher for over twenty years and served on the church council as secretary. She and her husband Patrick Thomas O'Hara would have celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary on August 24th. She had been employed by Interfaith Corporation, First Hospital, and by First Baptist Church of Wilkes-Barre.
Surviving in addition to her loving husband Patrick at home is her brother William Courtney and his wife, Irene of Wilkes-Barre. Also surviving are her nieces and nephew whom she treated as if they were her own children; Kimberly Courtney, Moosic; Susan Cunningham of Ashley; Rachel Courtney, Wilkes-Barre and Stephen Courtney of Wilkes-Barre; She also has a great-nephew, Connor James Courtney.
Funeral services for Janice will be conducted on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the John V. Morris Funeral Home, 625 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, followed by Services at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Reverend Gary John Scharrar pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Saint Matthew's Lawn section of Fern Knoll Burial Park, Midland Avenue, Dallas.

Mrs. Josephine M. (Crisalli) Paul, 81 of the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, May 28, 2008 in the Inpatient Unit of Hospice of the Visiting Nurses Asssociation at Heritage House.
Born July 9, 1926 in Carbondale, she was a daughter of the late Vinzanso and Frances (Alampi) Crisalli. Educated in the Carbondale schools, Mrs. Paul was a graduate of the former Ben Franklin High School, Carbondale.
She was a member of the Catholic Community of Miners Mills.
Until her retirement, she had been employed as a seamstress with the former Leslie Fay Company, Plains Township for thirty years.
Josie is remembered by family as being an excellent cook who enjoyed entertaining her family and friends. Everyone was welcomed in her home and was touched by her warmth and loving ways.
She and her husband, Mr. Jacob (Jake) P. Paul, celebrated their fifty-first wedding anniversary on July 28, 2007.
She was pre-deceased by her son Michael and by brothers Samuel and Frank Crisalli.
Surviving in addition to her husband Jake at home are Sisters Angie Lewandowski of Maryland; Frances Greeco of Florida; Catherine Telemko of Carbondale, her brother James Crisalli of Lancaster; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Paul will be conducted on Saturday morning, May 31, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. from the John V. Mrs. Evelyn A. ( Rosell ) Tomko, 72 of Sugar Notch passed into Eternal Life peacefully Friday morning in the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Born December 26, 1935 in Sugar Notch, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Gudoski) Rosell. Educated in the Sugar Notch schools, Mrs. Tomko was a 1953 graduate of the former Sugar Notch High School. She furthered her education by attending the Wilkes-Barre School of Business.
She had been employed in the Environmental Services department for Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre, formerly Mercy Hospital for twenty-two years. Previously, she had been employed by Household Financial of Wilkes-Barre.
She was a member of Saint Leo / Holy Rosary Parish, Ashley.
In her spare time, Evelyn enjoyed attending local parish bazaars, listening to polka music, and her most prized moments were spent with her grandchildren Alyson, David, Daniel and Dana. She took joy in every aspect of their lives and will be sadly missed by her entire family.
She was pre-deceased by her brother Leonard Rosell.
Surviving are her husband of forty-nine years, Mr. Richard A. Tomko, at home; Son, Richard A. Jr. and his wife Deborah of West Wyoming; David and his wife Joanne of Sugar Notch; Granddaughters Alyson Sincavage, Florida; Dana Tomko of Sugar Notch. Grandsons David and Daniel Tomko of Sugar Notch; Sisters; Mary Ball of Stroudsburg, Elizabeth Stonionis of Warrior Run, Beatrice Wayda of York; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Tomko will be conducted on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. from the John V. Morris - Charles J. Mrs. Ida A. (Scheuch) Lorenz, 101 of Plains Township, passed away peacefully Thursday morning in the Inpatient Unit of Hospice Community Care at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre Hospital.
Born August 24, 1906 in Gerstungen, Germany, she was the daughter of the late August and Anna (Schulz) Scheuch. She was educated in the Gerstungen schools.
Until her retirement, Mrs. Lorenz was employed as a dietician by the Horace Mann School of Riverdale, New York before relocating to the Wyoming Valley. Previously, she had been employed as a housekeeper.
She was a member of Saint Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre where she held membership in the Dorcas Guild and had the distinction of being the eldest congregant. She was also a member of the North End Senior Citizens Club, and the Sunshine Club.
Mrs. Lorenz, who was lovingly known by her family as "Oma", the German term form grandma, was very well known for her culinary talents with homemade German specialties. She took pleasure with her talents in vegetable and flower gardening.
Ida was pre-deceased by her beloved husband George in 1992 and by brothers and sisters in Germany.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law with whom she resided, Mrs. Anne Mae Visoky and the Reverend Paul Visoky, Pastor Emeritus of Saint Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Wilkes-Barre; Grandchildren Paul J. Visoky of Falls and Ruth A. Visoky of North Wilkes-Barre; numerous nieces and nephews in Germany.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lorenz will be conducted on Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the John V. Morris Funeral Home, 625 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre followed by services at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Reverend Gary John Scharrer, pastor officiating.

Mr. John S. (Jack) Sisko, 68 of East Northampton Street in the Georgetown section of Wilkes-Barre Township, passed into Eternal Life Thursday morning just after midnight in the
Kindred Hospital Wyoming Valley following a lengthy illness.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late John Sisko, and Mrs. Mary (Hojecki) Sisko of Wilkes-Barre Township.
Educated in the Wilkes-Barre Township schools, he was a 1957 graduate of the former Wilkes-Barre Township High School. He furthered his education by attending Lincoln Technichal School in Irvington, New Jersey.
Until illness caused his retirement, he had been employed by the Intersel Corporation of Mountain Top as an electrician. Prior to that, he had been employed by Westinghouse Elevator Company of Jersey City, New Jersey.
He was a member of Saint John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre Township; the American Legion Home Association Post #655 of Larksville, and was a social member of the Wilkes-Barre Township American Legion, Post #815.
He and his wife, the former Frances Good, would have celebrated their fourty-seventh wedding anniversary on May 27th.
He was pre-deceased by his son J.S. in 1997, by his father John and by a brother Lawrence in 2000.
Surviving, in addition to his wife Frances at home and his mother Mary of Wilkes-Barre Township; are his daughter-in-law, Michelle of Kingston; his brother Edward, Wilkes-Barre Township Sisters Evelyn Krishock of Fairfield, OH and Paulette McDaniels of Laurel Run; Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mr. George A. Hando, 97 of East Main Street, Plains Township passed away unexpectedly Saturday afternoon in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital shortly after admission.
Born December 20, 1910 in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Vassil and Mary (Jagr) Hando. He was educated in the city schools, and furthered his education by attending the Philadelphia Cooking and Baking School.
Until his retirement, Mr. Hando had been employed by the Alcoa Aluminum Steam Ship Company in Trinidad, the West Indies. He was then employed in hotel/restaurant management in both the Orlando, Florida and New York areas. Most recently, he was employed as a manager for Kentucky Fried Chicken locally.
Mr. Hando served with the Merchant Marines, and later with the United States Navy during the Second World War earning the rank of lieutenant. He later was called to service during the Vietnam Conflict.
He was a member o f Holy Assumption of Saint Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, and was a former member of the Joseph E. Conlon Post #558 of the American Legion in Plains Township.
He was pre-deceased by his wife, the former Mary Novak in 1994; by brothers Michael, Stephen, Charles and James and by a sister, Mrs. Julia Pachucki.
Surviving are his son George D. Hando at home, a sister Mrs. Irene Robertson of Wilkes-Barre and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services with Panachida will be conducted on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the John V. Morris Funeral Home, 625 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, followed by Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Assumption of Saint Mary Byzantine Catholic Church with the Very Reverend James G. Mrs. Sophie (Burko) Toloczko Brookside Street Wilkes-Barre, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning at her residence.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Metro and Eva Burko.
She was educated in the city schools.
Until her retirement, she had been employed in the local garment industry as a presser.
Mrs. Toloczko was a member of the Catholic Community of North Wilkes-Barre.
She was pre-deceased by her husband Charles in 1987, and by brothers Walter, Metro, and Michael and by her sister Annette.
Surviving, are her son Charles J. Toloczko and his wife Debra of the East End section of the city; Granddaughter Kimberly Gimble and her husband Kevin of West Pittston; Sister Mary Sisko; Sister-in-Law, Helen Eck, both of Wilkes-Barre; Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Toloczko will be conducted on Monday at 10:30 a.m. from the John V. Mr. Robert J. Perkins 54 of East State Street Larksville formerly of Mountain Top, entered Eternal Life Wednesday evening in the Inpatient Unit of Hospice Community Care at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre surrounded by his family. Born January 2, 1954 in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of Mrs. Thelma I. (McCann) Perkins of Mountain Top and the late Robert L. Perkins.
Bob was a graduate of Saint Jude’s elementary school. He then graduated from the former Saint Mary's High School, and furthered his education by attaining a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from King's College, both of Wilkes-Barre.
Until his retirement in 2001, he was employed for 26 years as a corrections officer by the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections. Bob began his career with the Department in 1978, serving at S.C.I. Camp Hill, and retired with the rank of Captain from S.C.I. Retreat, Hunlock Creek.
Bob was a member of Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Nesbitt Street, Larksville and held membership in the Larksville American Legion Post #655.
He and his wife, the former Linda M. Glas would have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on Tuesday, May 13th.
He is remembered by family and friends as being a loving and caring individual who was kind to all he knew.
Surviving in addtion to his wife Linda at home and his mother Thelma in Mountain Top are his son Robert J. Perkins Jr., at home; Sisters Mrs. Anne Marie Gola and Mrs. Peggy Fornitt, both of Mountain Top; Two nieces, two nephews; He is also missed by his special companion, his dog Brandy and by numerous friends.

Skylar Elizabeth Saranchuk, 7 sprouted her wings and flew home to God after a strong and courageous fight with spinal muscular atrophy. Skylar was the pride and joy of her mother's life and also her best friend.
Sky was born June 3, 2000 to Tracy Murray of Wilkes-Barre and David Saranchuk of West Pittston. She was also loved dearly by Daniel Fuller Jr. of Wilkes-Barre.
Her proud grandparents are Betsy and Daniel Johnson of Wilkes-Barre; Ron and Anne Marie Murray of Exeter; Alberta and Joe Gozikowski of Tunkhannock and Barry and Mary Anne Saranchuk of Montrose; Great-grandmother, Emma Watkins of Tunkhannock.
She was very much loved by her uncles Tony and Danny Johnson of Wilkes-Barre.
She was preceeded in death by her uncle Ron Murray Jr.; great-grandparents Tom and Betty Basham.
Skylar loved to play ring-around-the-rosie with her little brother Daniel Fuller at home. She was also the big sister of Carly and Erik Saranchuk, of West Pittston.
Skylar was in second grade in the Wilkes-Barre Area School District. She enjoyed all her therapists and teachers very much.

Mrs. Ann Anuskavage (Anuskiewicz) 81, a former resident of North Walnut Street, Wilkes-Barre Twp., and B'Nai Brith Apartments, Wilkes-Barre and currently a guest at the Golden Living Center- Summit, Wilkes-Barre, died Saturday afternoon in the Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre Emergency Room, shortly after admission.
Mrs. Anuskavage was born in Newport Township, January 22, 1927, daughter of the late Wasil and Mary (Onesko) Danko.
She attended the Wilkes-Barre Township Schools and was a life member of Saint John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church.
Mrs. Anuskavage had been employed by Leo Matus Newstand and Al Wick Record Store, both on Public Square, Wilkes-Barre, also Heavenly Shoe Factory, Hanover Township, Armour Meat Packing Company, and Bakers Inn, Wilkes-Barre.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Edward, who died May 7, 2002 and a brother, Charles Danko.
Surviving is her daughter, Ann Marie Rachelli and her husband Louis, both of Port St. Lucie, FL; a sister, Mary Drobish, Wilkes-Barre Twp, two grandsons, Derek and Dane Rachelli; a niece and a nephew.

 Mr. James J. O'Boyle, 56 of Worral Street in the East End section of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Sunday morning in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital following a year-long battle with lung cancer.
Born August 31, 1951 in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mildred (Yale) O'Boyle.
Educated in the city schools, he was a 1969 graduate of the James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre. He was a member of the First Untied Methodist Church, North Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre.
Jim was employed as a utility construction foreman for over thirty years, most recently with the Franchelli Enterprises of Plains.
He and his wife, the former LaVerne Klapat celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary on June 13, 2007.
His hobbies included a love for motorcycles, the family pool and spending time at the ocean. Jim was remembered by family and friends as a workaholic who was very dedicated to his profession and his neighborhood. He couldn't say no to a friend or neighbor in need. A true family man, Jim took pride and joy in watching his children's interests and their various activities.
Surviving, in addition to his wife LaVerne at home are his children, Meagan, Nicholas and Kiel, all at home; Sisters Nancy Costantino of Allentown and Mary Alice Jones and her husband David of Wilkes-Barre; His father and mother-in-law, Richard and Florence Klapat, Wilkes-Barre; Brothers-in-law and their spouses, Richard and Kim Klapat Jr., Thomas and Carol Klapat and James Klapat all of Wilkes-Barre; Several nieces, nephews and his beloved family English Bulldog, Judas known specifically to Jim as "Chunky Man".

Mr. Mark D. Sniko Sr. 48 of Scott Street in the Parsons section of WilkesBarre, passed away Tuesday morning in the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center after a brief battle with lung cancer.
Born August 10, 1959 in Wilkes-Barre he was the son of Valeria (Levandowski) Sniko of North Wilkes-Barre and the late John A. Snitko, who died November 30, 2005.
Educated in the city schools, Mark was a 1977 graduate of the James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre.
Mark, along with his friend, Mr. Jack Givens owned and operated the Givens-Snitko Construction Company of Wilkes-Barre. Previously he was employed by the Pinnacle Roofing Company of Nantickoe, and for the former Acme Food Markets. More recently, Mark worked as a sales associate for the Wilkes-Barre Home Depot store for several years.
He and his wife, the former Kimberly A. Royer, celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary October 9, 2007.
He was a member of the Catholic Community of North Wilkes-Barre.
Surviving in addition to his wife Kim at home and his mom Valeria of North Wilkes-Barre, are his son Mark D. Snitko Jr. of Mechanicsburg; his daughter Amanda A. Snitko at home and his brother John A. Snitko Jr. of North Wilkes-Barre.

Mrs. Nell F. (Nellie) (Chepulis) Motz, 95 , previously a resident of the Heights section of Wilkes-Barre on Wayne and Taft Streets prior to moving to Cedar Village, Hanover Townhship and most recently a resident of Beachtree Care Center, Ithaca, New York passed into Eternal Life Sunday at the facility.
Born March 25, 1913 in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Eva (Pongoniute) Chepulis. She was educated in the Wilkes-Barre area schools, and furthered her education by graduating from the former Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing.
Mrs. Motz was formerly employed by the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for over 15 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse, where she was one of the first L.P.N.s to assist in the surgical suites.
She served as a volunteer with the American Red Cross blood drive campaigns for over twenty-five years.
She was a former member of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre, was active with the Wilkes-Barre Senior Citizens, and is remembered as being an avid Philadelphia Phillies baseball fan.
She was pre-deceased by her husband Mr. Alfred F. Motz on April 7, 1998; by sons Ron and Michael Motz; also by three brothers and four sisters.
Surviving are her son Al Motz Jr. and his wife Shirley of San Antonio, Texas; Daughter Marge Kline and her husband Ron of Ithaca, New York; Eleven Grandchildren; Sixteen Great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Noreen M. (Reynolds) Menighan, 81 of Woodlawn Drive, Bear Creek Township passed into Eternal Life Sunday morning in the Inpatient Unit of Hospice of the Visiting Nurses Association at Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre.
Born December 14, 1926 in Forty-Fort, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Marie (Burns) Reynolds.
Educated in the city schools, she was a graduate of the James M. Coughlin High School.
Until her retirement, she had been employed for over 25 years as a data transcriber by the Social Security Administration Wilkes-Barre Data Operations Center.
Noreen was a member of the Catholic Community of North Wilkes-Barre, the North End Slovak Citizens Club and the Wilkes-Barre Senior Citizens Club. She enjoyed Saturday evening dinner gatherings with her friends, and looked forward to her monthly trips to Atlantic City, New Jersey.
In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband, William Menighan and by her step-mother, Bernadine Reynolds.
Surviving, are brothers; Daniel Reynolds and his wife Lorraine of South Carolina and William Reynolds and his wife Yolonda of Texas; her cousin, John Hale and his wife Grace of Lords Valley, PA; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ernest G. Krall, 70 of Evergreen Avenue, Edison, New Jersey
passed into Eternal Life Tuesday, March 18 at the JFK Hartwyck
Center at Edison Estates.
Born July 20, 1937 in Wilkes-Barre,
he was the son of the late George J. and Anna (Kalanik) Krall.
He was a 1955 graduate of the James
M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre. Ernest furthered
his education by attaining a degree in Sociology from Wilkes
College in 1962. He then studied at Temple University,
attaining both his Masters degree in sociology in 1967, and
later his Masters in Social Work direct practice in 1971.
He served with the United State Air
Force Reserves from 1955 until 1963.
He began his professional career
in Philadelphia, re-locating to New Jersey where he served
as adjunct professor at Rutgers Graduate School of Social Work,
in New Brunswick. He served as a consultant to the Division
of Mental Health and Hospitals in Trenton, NJ and Director
of Clinical Services at The Bridge in Irvington, NJ. More
recently, he was a clinical practicioner in social work at
Somerset Medical Center, Somerset, NJ.
He is survived by his sister,
Mrs. Janet Murphy of Edison, NJ; Three nephews; two great-nieces
and two great- nephews.

Mrs. Regina (Jean) Kotalik, 89 a resident of Heritage House Wilkes-Barre, and a former resident of South Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, passed into Eternal Life Thursday, March 13th at the nursing facility.
Born Decmeber 1, 1918 in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Catherine (Stascewicz) Maj. Educated in the Hanover schools, she was a graduate of the former Hanover High School.
Until her retirement, she had been employed as a customer service representative by the Pennsylvania Power and Light Company. Previously, she and her husband Elmer co-owned and operated the Valspar Paint and Hardware Store, located on Hazle Street Wilkes-Barre for several years. Prior to that they co-owned Kay's Restaurant on Main Street in Ashley. Mrs. Kotalik was a member of Saint Nicholas Roman Catholic Parish Community of Wilkes-Barre. She and her husband Elmer celebrated their sixty-seventh wedding anniversary on December 31, 2007. She was pre-deceased by a brother Zigmond May, and by sisters Nellie Raginski and Celia Zailsky.
In addition to her husband Elmer at home, Jean is survived by a brother Bernard May of Stockton, CA; Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews and over twenty-five God-children. Mr.
Elmer Kotalik, 92, a resident of the Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre,
formerly a resident of South Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre,
rejoined his wife Jean in Eternity Wednesday evening March
19th in the Inpatient Unit of Hospice Community Care at Geisinger
South Wilkes-Barre Hospital.
Born November 11, 1915 in Wilkes-Barre,
he was the son of the late Joseph and Ann (Balas) Kotalik. He
was educated in the Wilkes-Barre schools.
Until his retirement, he had been
employed part-time for King's College, and for Frank
N. Henry Supply Co., both of Wilkes-Barre.
Previously, he and his wife Jean co-owned and operated the
former Valspar Paint and Hardware store on Hazle Street in
Wilkes-Barre. Prior to that they co-owned Kay's Restaurant
on Main Street in Ashley.
He and his wife, the former Regina
(Jean) Maj celebrated their sixty-seventh wedding anniversary
on December 31, 2007.
He was a member
of Saint Nicholas Roman Catholic Parish Community of Wilkes-Barre. An
avid golfer, he also held membership in the Wyoming Valley
Country Club, and previously belonged to the Tatra Club of
Luzerne County.
Sadly, he was pre-deceased by his
wife one week prior on March 13th. Also by sisters, Olga Hickman
and Dorothy Kotalik.
Surviving, are Brothers; Joseph
Kotalik of Niagara Falls, NY; Bernard Kotalik and his wife
Bridget of Camp Hill, PA; Vincent Kotalik and his wife Joan
of Wilmington, DE. Sisters, Dolores Sturman of Virginia
Beach, VA; Ann McCawley of Mechanicsburg; Lucille Marino and
her husband Lou of Santa Clarita, CA; Several nieces, nephews,
great-nieces and great-nephews, and over 25 God-children.
Combined funeral services for Elmer and his
wife Jean will be conducted on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. with a
Memorial Funeral Mass in Saint Nicholas Roman Catholic Church,
226 South Washington Street Wilkes-Barre with the Reverend
Monsignor Joseph G. Rauscher pastor, officiating.
Interment will be private and at
the convenience of the family.
Relatives and friends are invited
to join the family for visitation at the church from 11:00
a.m. until the time of services.

Mr.
Francis B. Olexa 91, a resident of Little Flower Manor, previously
a resident of City Heights Apartments, Wilkes-Barre, passed
into Eternal Life Saturday March 15 in the Inpatient Unit of
Hospice Community Care at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre Hospital.
Born November 19, 1916 in Beaver
Meadows, PA he was a son of the late Michael and Mary (Dill)
Olexa. He was educated in the Hazleton area schools.
Until his retirement, Mr. Olexa had
been employed as the advertising manager for the Scranton store
of Sears, Roebuck and Company for thrity-three years.
He was a member of the Catholic Community
of North Wilkes-Barre. He served as Eucharistic Minister,
and was a faithful daily communicant at the 7:00 a.m. Mass
at Sacred Heart of Jesus R.C. Church, where he would serve
as adult acolyte.
He was pre-deceased by his first
wife of thirty-one years, the former Catherine Dean in 1971sisters
Mary Bunda; Veronica Olexa and by brothers; Michael, John,
Joseph, Andrew, Stephen and Patrick.
Surviving are his wife, the former
Phyllis J. Manns, also a resident of Little Flower Manor, Wilkes-Barre;
Son, Daniel of Fairview, PA; Daughter Mary Ann Simons of Ocala,
FL; Three grandchildren; Six great-grandchildren; Numerous
nieces and nephews.
As per Francis' request, there
will be no public calling hours. Relatives and friends
are invited to join his family for a Memorial Funeral Mass
to be conducted Saturday, April 5th at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred
Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, 601 North Main Street,
North Wilkes-Barre with the Reverend Monsignor John J. Sempa
pastor, officiating.
Interment will follow in Denison
Cemetery, Swoyersville.

Mr. James R. Mullaney, 56, of West Pettebone Street, Forty-Fort,
passed into Eternal Life unexpectedly Monday evening in the
Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Born on February 18, 1952 in Newark,
NJ he was the son of the late James Paul and Mary E. (Boney)
Mullaney. Educated in the Newark schools, he was a graduate
of Saint Benedict's High School, Newark. Jim furthered
his education by graduating from the Wilkes-Barre Business
College.
He had been employed for thirty-three
years by Luzerne Optical Laboratories, Ltd. of Wilkes-Barre
as both a salesman and quality control specialist. He
was previously employed by Ballister Optical for three years.
Prior to that, he was employed by the former First Eastern
Bank of Wilkes-Barre.
He was a member of Saint Ignatius
Roman Catholic Parish Community of Kingston.
Jim served as an assistant Boy Scout
Leader with Troop #157 of Saint Hedwig's Parish, Kingston.
Enjoying the outdoors, he was an
avid sportsman who loved fishing, hunting, bowing and playing
golf.
He and his wife, the former Judith
A. Michaels celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary on September
12, 2007.
In addition to his parents, he was
pre-deceased by an uncle, Russ Boney.
Surviving in addition to his wife
Judy at home, are his children; James R. Jr., Ryan M. and Katie
M. Mullaney, all at home; Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Jim will be
conducted on Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. from the John V. Morris Funeral
Home, 625 North Main Street, North Wilkes-Barre, followed by
a Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Saint Ignatius Roman Catholic
Church, 339 North Maple Avenue, Kingston, with the Reverend

Catherine F. Hoheneder, 64, formerly of Sheridan Manor Apartments, Empire Street, Wilkes-Barre, and more recently a resident of B'nai B'rith and Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre, passed into Eternal Life Tuesday morning in the Inpatient Unit of Hospice of the Visiting Nurses Association at Heritage House following a prolonged illness.
Born June 4, 1943 in South Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late John M. and Ruth E. (Schultz) Hoheneder. Educated in her parish school, she was a graduate of the former Saint Nicholas High School of Wilkes-Barre, class of 1961.
Until her retirement Catherine was employed by the Social Security Administration, Bureau of Hearings and Appeals as Hearings Clerk, and served in several other government agencies for over thirty-five years. Previously, she had been employed by the former Observer weekly newspaper of Wilkes-Barre.
Remembered as a selfless and caring individual, Catherine had previously volunteered her time serving at the former Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre and Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains Township.
She was a member of the Saint Nicholas Roman Catholic Parish Community of Wilkes-Barre.
Surviving, are her daughters, Joanne C. McDonald and her husband David of Hanover Township; Carol Ann Rittel-Pavia of Youngstown, Ohio; Grandson, David McDonald Sister; Ruth M. Morris and her husband John V. Jr. of Wilkes-Barre; Several nieces, nephews, a great-niece and three great-nephews; An aunt; Numerous cousins and friends.
Funeral services for Catherine will be conducted on Friday with a Blessing Service at 10:00 a.m. from the John V. Morris - Charles J. Leagus Funeral Home, 281 East Northampton Street, Wilkes-Barre with the Reverend Monsignor Joseph G. Rauscher pastor of Saint Nicholas R.C. Church officiating.
Interment will be in Saint Nicholas Parish Cemetery, Pioneer Avenue, Shavertown section of Kingston Township.

Ms. Jeanette Brown, 59 of Regent
Street Wilkes-Barre, passed away Tuesday afternoon in the Inpatient
Unit of Hospice Community Care at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
Born May 14, 1948 in Philadelphia
she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Margaret (Davis)
Lacey.
She was educated in the Philadelphia
school system, and furthered her education by attaining a bachelor's
degree in accounting from Seton Hall University.
Until her retirement, she had been
employed as a nurse’s aid for Hospice in Jersey City,
NJ.
She attended the New Light Baptist
Church of Bloomfield, NJ.
Ms. Brown was pre-deceased by many
relatives.
Left to mourn her loss are sons Ernest
Theodore of Newark, NJ; David Elliott and his wife Jennifer
of Easton, PA; Floyd Edward and his wife Ebony of Hillside,
NJ; Daughter Crystal Helena of East Orange, NJ. Grandchildren
including Floyd Mustafa Brown; Shonda Willis, Krystal Brooks,
Stephen Monteiro-Brown, Stencil Archie, Connie Archie, Miles
Monteiro-Brown, Aniyyah Brown, Helen Brown, Makhi Brown; and
friend, Cathy McCoy.

Condolences
Mr. Theodore Choley, 91 of Wilkes-Barre,
passed into Eternal Life monday evening at the Department of
Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains Township.
Born March 23, 1916 in Ford City, PA he was a son of the
late John and Mary (Ball) Choley. He was educated in the city
schools and was a 1934 graduate of the James M. Coughlin High
School.
A career military serviceman, Mr. Choley served with the
United States armed forces, enlisting with the Army in 1936,
later serving during the Second World War with the Army Air
Corps, finally to be discharged in 1965 from the U.S. Air Force.
While serving in the Air Force Reserves , Mr. Choley served
as an officer with the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department
from 1948 until 1968. He later worked for and retired from
United States Postal Service Wilkes-Barre office.
Following his military service, he lived in Hawaii for several
years, where he received several awards for his volunteer service
at the Hickham Air Force Base.
He and his wife, the former Olga Feszchak celebrated their
62nd wedding anniversary on March 2nd.
He was a member of the Holy Assumption of Saint Mary Byzantine
Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre, the Veterans of Foreign Wars,
Post #283 of Kingston and the Wyoming Valley Lodge #36 of the
Fraternal Order of Police.
He was pre-deceased by a step-brother, Humphrey Tranzulak
and by a sister, Mary Zolobko.
Surviving, in addition to his wife Olga at home are his son
Ted and his wife Leann of Reno, NV; Daughters Mary Ann Koflanovich
and her husband Ronald of Shavertown; Susan Jo Murray and her
husband Tom of St. Louis, MO.; Grandchildren, including Kyra
Sawford, Kevin Koflanovich and his wife Amanda, Ted Choley
and his wife Samantha, Michael Choley, Blake Choley, Madison
Brady, Michael Murray and Shannon Murray; Several nieces and
nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family on Saturday
at 10:30 a.m. for the Office of Christian Burial in Holy Assumption
of Saint Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, 695 North Main Street,
North Wilkes-Barre with the Very Reverend James G. Hayer pastor,
officiating.

Condolences 
Mrs. Florence B. Stockunas, 80,
a former resident of Casey Avenue, Wilkes-Barre Township, and
a current resident of The Laurels, Third Avenue, Kingston,
died at the Assisted Living Facility, Sunday morning, after
a prolonged illness.
Mrs. Stockunas was born in Plymouth,
June 26, 1927, daughter of the late Stanley and Frances (Sies)
Bombala.
She was a graduate of the former
Plymouth High School, Plymouth and had been employed by the
Social Security Administration over forty-two years as a data
entry clerk. Later she worked for the U.S. Census Bureau
in 1990 in Wikes-Barre.
Mrs. Stockunas was predeceased by
her husband, Carl L. on May 16, 2002; Daughter, Sharon and
brothers, Walter and Edward.
Surviving is a daughter, Patricia
D and her husband Glenn F. Ferrell, Wilkes-Barre; a brother
Joseph, Wilmington, DE; Sisters, Roslyn Bombala and Sophie
Maugg, both of Nazareth and two granddaughtes Kelly and Megan
Ferrell, both of Wilkes-Barre.
Funeral services will be held on
Wednesday morning at 9:00 a.m. from the John V. Morris-Charles
J. Leagus Funeral Home, 281 East Northampton Street, Wilkes-Barre
Heights followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Trinity

Mr. Daniel S. (Dan) Bigus 82 of Mill Street in the Parsons
section of Wilkes-Barre, died Tuesday morning in the Wilkes-Barre
General Hospital following an illness.
Born September 13, 1925 in Hanover
Township he was a son of the late George and Ella (Volanski)
Bigus. He was a graduate of the former Hanover High
School.
A veteran of the Second World War,
Mr. Bigus served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre. For
his tour of duty, he was recipient of the Victory Medal, the
American and Pacific Theatre Ribbons.
Until his retirement, Dan was employed
by the Wilkes-Barre office of the United States Postal Service
as a letter carrier. Previously, he was the owner and
operator of an Esso service station in Berwyn, PA.
More recently, he was employed in
the produce department of Wegmans supermarket, Wilkes-Barre
Township.
He was a member of Saint Dominic
Roman Catholic Church, Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre, the
AMVETS Post #159 of Hanover Township, the former Parsons American
Legion and former Parsons Veterans of Foreign Wars posts.
He is the past president and secretary
of the National Association of Letter Carriers, John Casey
Branch #115 of Wilkes-Barre.
He and his wife, the former Dolores
C. Bombay celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary on February
8th.
Dan is remembered as a loving "Pop
Pop" to his grandchildren, and was a fan of the Philadelphia
Eagles. Enjoying the outdoors, he was an avid gardener
who took pride in his home garden.
He was pre-deceased by his first
wife, the former Patricia Morrison, by brothers Mike, George,
Stephen, and John Bigus and by sisters Ann Angione, Mary Patrylak,
Ella Bardar and Jule Levandoski.
Surviving, are his wife Dolores at
home, Son, Steven D. Bigus and his wife Sandie of Shavertown;
Daughters Danielle Byers and her husband Troy of Parsons and
their children Tristan, Mackenzie and Kyndall Byers; Donna
DiAntonio and her husband Dominick of Soddy Daisy, TN; and
their children, Patricia DiAntonio, Robyn Tuohey, Kathy Revis
and Nicholas DiAntnonio; Four great-grandchildren;
Numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Bigus will
be conducted on Saturday at 8:45 a.m. from the John V. Morris
Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Saint
Dominic Roman Catholic Church with the Reverend William R.
Culnane, Ph.D. pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in Saint Mary Roman
Catholic Cemetery, South Main Street, Hanover Township.
