Mrs. Diana L. (Salvage) Basham, R.N. 70, a resident of Wilkes-Barre Township, passed peacefully into Eternal Life Monday, the evening of March 18th, in the comfort of her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on Friday, August 28, 1953 in Wilkes-Barre, she was one of four children to the late Ronald Salvage and Dolores (Shipp) Konnick.
Educated in the city schools, Diana was a 1971 graduate of the former Grand Army of the Republic Memorial High School, Wilkes-Barre Heights. She furthered her education toward her vocation by attaining an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from the Luzerne County Community College School of Nursing in Nanticoke.
Raised in the Roman Catholic faith, Diana previously attended the former Saint Joseph Monastery in Wilkes-Barre Township.
Dedicated to her profession, Diana worked for over thirty years as a registered nurse for the Partridge-Tippet Nursing Center at Wesley Village, Jenkins Township, earning the title of supervisor at the time of her formal retirement.
In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting and playing pitch. She also took courses in cake decorating, and made countless cakes for various family events as well as for her friends.
Above all, Diana is not only remembered for her dedication as a nurse, she was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to her beloved family. Her physical presence will be missed by all those who knew and loved her in this life.
She and her beloved husband, Michael P. Basham celebrated thirty-six years of married life together last June 13th.
In addition to Michael, Diana leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children; Melissa Rivas and her husband Joseph of Ashley; James Dougherty and his wife Caroline of North Wilkes-Barre; Step-children, Michael Basham and his wife Chrystal of Mountain Top; Keri Williams and her companion Carl Markowski of Hanover Township; The apples of her eye, her grandchildren including Cheyenne Fuller, Maliyah Rivas, Brooklynn Rivas, Tiarra Rivas, Joe Rivas, Urijah Rivas, Hannah and Veronica Dougherty, Simon Basham and Devon Williams; Sister and Brothers, Debbie Salvage of Hanover Township, Ronald Salvage of Orangeville and Randy Yaniak of Tennessee; Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Dear Friends.
Memorial funeral services for Diana will be conducted on Monday, March 25th at 6:30 p.m. from the John V. Morris Family Funeral Home, 625 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to join Michael and the family for visitation and shared remembrances from 5:00 p.m. until the time of services. It is the family’s request in keeping with Diana’s laid back personality, that those in attendance kindly wear casual clothing to the visitation.
