Mrs. Johanna G. (Waskie) Napkori, 93, a beloved wife, mother, sister and friend, passed peacefully into eternal life early the morning of Thursday, February 12, 2026 while in the care of the Allied Services Meade Street Skilled Nursing Center, Wilkes-Barre.
A lifelong resident of Wilkes-Barre, Mrs. Napkori was born on Friday, June 3, 1932; the last of six children to the late William and Veronica (Kmetz) Waskie.
Educated in the city schools, she was a 1950 graduate of the former James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre.
In her youth, Mrs. Napkori was employed as a seamstress in the area's former garment industry. The skills she acquired would later be put to good use, as she lovingly crafted a number of handmade quilts and dresses for family and friends.
It was around this time she would meet and eventually marry her beloved husband, Mr. Michael Napkori on May 9, 1953. Mr. and Mrs. Napkori would share almost seventy-three years of married life together at her passing. The couple previously enjoyed Polka dancing and would often visit local nursing homes with their talents; much to the delight of the residents.
Dedicated to her Roman Catholic faith, she held membership in Saints Peter and Paul Parish, Plains Township.
Mrs. Napkori was known for her warmth, kindness and unwavering spirit. She dedicated her life to her family; sharing endless love and support with her husband Michael. Together they raised four children and witnessed the birth of two more generations. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished the moments spent with them, creating a legacy of love and togetherness that will live on in their hearts. Johanna's spirit will continue to guide and inspire her family and friends as they navigate life without her physically in their midst.
Mrs. Napkori bid farewell to siblings George, Jack, Mary, Julie and Vera.
Left to cherish all the wonderful memories they now keep of her, in addition to her husband Michael at home are the couple's children; Michael Napkori of Fort Worth, TX; Robert Napkori and his wife, Dr. Susie Biancarelli of Newton Lake and Florida; Lynn Majdic and her husband Dr. Jim Majdic of Williamsburg, VA and Suzanne Napkori-Smith and her husband Greg Smith of Mountain Top; Nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; Several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
